The Blennerville Visitor Centre allows you visit a working windmill and has an exhibition gallery, craft shop and restaurant. The exhibition also includes an audio visual presentation, an emigration and famine display and a bird watching platform. Blennerville was the main port for emigration from Kerry at the time of the Great Famine (1845 to 1848) and was the home port of the famous emigrant ship the ‘Jeanie Johnston’. The visitor centre is home to a spectacular display devoted to Irish emigration and has models of many of the infamous coffin ships.
