Explore the hidden coves and soft, golden beaches which tell the story of the transformation from deep ocean floor to deserts over 460 million years ago. Begin your discovery at the Copper Coast Global Geopark Visitor Centre where our friendly staff are ready to welcome you. Our Geological and Mining Heritage Exhibition is suitable for all ages and abilities. The collection of impressive minerals from the Copper Mines and around the world is home to one of the largest specimens of malachite in Ireland. Having fun and learning is what we love and there are a range of interactive games and quizzes to test your new knowledge. The unique geology gave rise to a massive Copper Mining Industry, once described as the most important in the world. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the award winning films and interactive models that recreate the industry, dangerous working conditions and brings to life the lives of the miners. We also have a working seismometer on display, part of a network of seismographs called the Irish National Seismic Network. The Copper Coast Gift Shop has a range of exclusive Irish local crafts and souvenirs. And if you love food like we do our café is the perfect setting to treat yourself to sumptuous and decadent cakes or wholesome lunches using fresh local ingredients. Or simply while away the hours over a glass of wine and a good book. There are a range of trails and activities suitable for families, sight seekers, culture enthusiasts and adventurers.
