Ireland’s only aviation museum, preserving the history of the Flying Boat period when Foynes was the first transatlantic airport in Ireland 1937-1945. Museum is located in original airport terminal building featuring a 1940’s style cinema showing the award winning movie “Atlantic Conquest”, 3D hologram re-enacting the night in 1942 when Irish Coffee was invented at Foynes by Chef Joe Sheridan. Showcases of uniforms, memorabilia, tickets, passenger lists, intelligence reports etc with a special children’s area telling the story of development of flight and three flight simulators to try your hand at being a pilot. The jewel in the Museum is our full size Boeing B314 Flying Boat replica – only one in the world. We also have the only aviation archive and library in Ireland. Available to students, researchers etc.
