Are you interested in researching some aspect of local or family history in Longford? If so, then you need to come to Longford County Library, Archives and Heritage Services to examine the sources available in the local studies and archival collections. We have a great range of primary and secondary sources, from estate papers, maps and photographs to local newspapers, census records and publications on the county. Longford County Library holds a wide variety of sources for Local Studies including: Publications, Newspapers, Maps, Photographs, The National Schools’ Folklore Collection. Among the sources for Irish Studies are: A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland by Samuel Lewis. Journals including Studies, Analecta Hibernica, Béaloideas, The Irish Sword and Irish Historical Studies. The Monsignor John V. Sheridan Collection, consisting of books on all aspects of Ireland. A wide variety of publications including key reference works such as Burke’s Landed Gentry and Burke’s Irish Family Records.
