The Michael Davitt Museum is housed in a RIAI award winning restored Penal Church in which Michael Davitt himself was baptised. The collection contains a wealth of personal artifacts, books and letters which document the Life and achievements of Michael Davitt 1846-1906: Father of the Land League International Humanitarian, Social Reformer, Patron of GAA & Glasgow Celtic FC, Author, MP. The site also features the Grave of Michael Davitt, in addition to the remains of the 13th Century Straide Abbey which contains some of the finest medieval tomb carvings in the country.
