NIVAL, the National Irish Visual Arts Library, is a public research resource dedicated to documenting twentieth and twenty-first century Irish visual art and design. The library’s continuously growing collection includes books, journals, catalogues, ephemera files and special collections. A wide range of information on artists, designers, galleries, arts organisations and other related subjects is collected, stored and made accessible to researchers in NIVAL’s reading room, which is located in the National College of Art and Design on Thomas Street, Dublin. Much of the library’s reference-only collection is unique and unavailable anywhere else. Access to the collection free and open to the general public. Enquiries by phone and email are welcome. NIVAL is a partnership project of the Arts Council of Ireland and the National College of Art & Design.
