The Arts and Industry section of this museum has a large collection of navigation instruments, some of which are displayed in recreated room settings, but most of which are in storage. In the 18th and 19th centuries many Italian Instrument Makers were located in Dublin. In the foyer of the museum are two fine examples of Armada cannon, one large bronze cannon with the crest of Philip of Spain, from the wreck of the Trinidad Valencera, and the other recovered from Streedagh Strand.
