The Commissioners for Irish Lights have responsibility for placement and ongoing maintenance of navigation aids (lights, beacons) around the Irish coastline. Their headquarters and maintenance depot is in DunLaoghaire Harbour. They operate a small private museum (no public access), and have, for some time, facilitated other institutions with loans of buoys and other artifacts on a 5 year basis. While they do not have a structured archive, they have considerable quantities of documentation including old plans and Lighthouse Journals.
