The Heritage Centre mainly deals with life in prison in the 19th Century. Actors in period costume guide visitors through the exhibits. Part of the exhibition deals with the deportation of convicts, and there is a very good full size reconstruction of part of a convict ship, including convict accomodation and the interior of the captains cabin, and a quayside scene. The exhibition includes navigation instruments and charts.
