Tim and Dolores Crowley set up an interpretive Centre Centre in 2000 to tell the story of their famous cousin, General Michael Collins. Their Centre is located on a hill overlooking the magnificent Argideen valley, with distant views of the Kerry mountains. The Crowleys, can trace their roots in the valley back to 1747. The story of Michael Collins begins, with two Audio Visuals, one highlights the important sites in West Cork associated with the patriot, the other contains rare film and sound archive footage. The centre is famous for live talks, which, with over one hundred slides and many anecdotes explore the public life of Michael Collins from 1916 until his death in 1922. There is also an exhibition of Michael Collins artefacts, photographs and militaria. Outside is a life size replica of the Bealnablath ambush site, with armoured car and crossley tender. Situated one kilometre off the Clonakilty –Timoleague road (R600), in West Cork (50 mins drive from Cork City)
