Kinvara Harbour is located in Kinvara, Galway (county of Galway)
Position on map:
While boats in harbours can be transitory by nature, a number of traditional boats seem to be based at Kinvara, including the well known Bad Mhor “Mac Duagh”. At the time of visit, there was 1 Nobby, 3 large hookers, 4 small hookers, and several other traditional wooden boats. The annual Kinvara Regatta (Crinniu na mBad) in August, is probably the largest gathering of Galway Hookers in one place. The Galway Hooker Association (Cumann Huileiri na Gaillimhe) has a large collection of information on the designs. A number of editions of a book on the history of Galway Hookers have been published.
