Facilties at the Heritage Centre include an audio-visual on the history of Connemara and the story of Dan O’ Hara. A History & Artefacts Room. Displays on different events & people that have shaped the area incl. prehistoric Connemara, Ferocious O’ flahertys, Richard Martin, John D’arcy, Famine, Marconi. Artefacts including farming implements as well as documents & papers of local & national interest. Reconstructions of a crannog, ringfort & clochaun. A restored 19th Century Cottage once the home of Dan O’ Hara (from the ballad of Dan O’ Hara) the brokenhearted farmer from Connemara who left his home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to travel across it and end his days selling matches on the streets of New York. Tradtional hill farm with Connemara Ponies, Cattle, Sheep & Donkeys. Guided Tours for Groups in Tractor Carriage with traditional farming demonstrations with storytelling and a few songs. Craft Shop & Restaurant also on site.
