One of Ireland’s earliest surviving Franciscan friaries; Ennis Friary was founded in the 1240’s by the followers of Saint Francis of Assisi. The Friary is the burial place of O’Brien & McMahon families – the ancient kings of Clare. Ennis Friary houses one of the finest collections of medieval figure sculpture in Ireland. Guided tours of the Friary are available for groups big or small.
