Position on map:
The Clarinbridge and Kilcolgan Rivers are two of the main centres for the valuable oyster fishery. The oysters are dredged by hand from small open carvel style boats which have a distinctive high stempost and a platform for sorting the oysters. Some of the boats have been laid-up along the river banks in recent years due to diminishing stocks.
