Several Hundred Pleasure and Angling boats use the lake. Numbers and operations tightly controlled by OPW. Recent large decrease in use of wooden boats due to lack of skill in wooden boatbuilding and repair. Now only 15% wooden compared to 50% a decade ago. Entire hire fleet replaced last year with modern fibreglass boats.
