The National Botanic Gardens holds a number of significant collections: A living collection of 15,000 plants; the National Herbarium, comprising some 700,000 dried plant specimens from both Ireland and across the world; the Economic Botany collection of some 6,000 plant products, artefacts and derivatives; an Art collection of c. 3,000 items; a library with 15,000 volumes and 800 journals; an historic archive of 25,000 items.
