This area has a long sporting tradition and at one time a thriving wildfowl industry. The Visitor Centre is housed within the wildfowl reserve. The maritime element of the exhibition centres on the use of the gun punt. There is a scale model of a punt, (at one stage a full scale punt and gun were on display) and information panels on the history and use of the boat. Original artifacts include waders, paddles, and associated equipment. There are still some licenses held locally for the use of gun punts on the estuary.
