Position on map:
Responsibility for inland waterways and their navigation is now in the hands of a cross-border organisation known as Waterways Ireland. They have a number of repositories including their main archives in Enniskillen. Waterways Ireland inherited very little by way of traditional or historic artifacts from the previous inland waterways management, CIE and the Grand Canal Company. Their Dublin office has some models of historic barges, maps and technical drawings. They also use some traditional craft for maintenance of the Grand Canal.
