The National Museum is the main repository for all maritime artefacts of an archaeological nature. The collection includes Bronze Age logboats and the Broighter Iron Age hoard that contains one of the earliest European model boats. The museum also houses assorted Viking Age ship’s timbers and fishing equipment. Much of the Museum’s collection is in storage. The National Museum of Country Life, Turlough Park, exhibits maritime items associated with folklife.
