Valentia Heritage Centre is located in Old School House, Knightstown, Valentia Island (county of Kerry)

Various displays detailing the rich history of the Island, including the laying of the first Transatlantic Telegraph Cable by the Great Eastern, the Telegraph Cable Station which operated on the Island for many years up to 1966. The Valentia Slate Quarry and export trade, the Valentia Maritime Radio service, The introduction and operation of the Meteorological Station, Valentia Lifeboat, local lighthouses and fishing industry. Also the community life on the island, schools, gentry (Home of the Fitzgeralds, hereditary Knights of Kerry). Includes paintings, photographs maps and memorabilia. There is an exhibit on the fossilised footprints (estimated 385 million years old) of a prehistoric lizard-like creature, recently discovered on the island.
